About
I’m Mike Mella, a web designer, developer, and strategist based in Toronto. I’ve been creating websites since 1999. Before some of my competitors had yet discovered the Internet, I was already building websites on it. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of clients, but today my focus is helping non-profit organizations build websites that are beautiful, usable, and impactful.
I specialize in Craft CMS, ExpressionEngine, Statamic, and Tailwind, and I’m a proud member of the Craft Partners Network. My background includes serving as Web Manager for a major Canadian charity, which gave me firsthand insight into the challenges non-profits face online. I speak English and French, and I co-host the Website 101 Podcast, where I share practical advice with web professionals and website owners. When a project calls for it, I collaborate with trusted colleagues who provide specialized services such as writing, programming, and other areas that extend the impact of my work.
In 2009, I launched my own company, Be Like Water, inspired by the principle of adaptability found in Eastern philosophy:
“In expression, water is honest.
In confrontation, water stays gentle.
In governance, water does not control.
In action, water aligns to timing.”
- Lao-Tzu, Tao Te Ching
Like water, the Web is always changing. Be Like Water will help you stay current.
