Scott MacLeod

Scott MacLeod is an Alberta-based musician originally from Prince Edward Island.  He plays roots rock music and sings about recognizable small-town situations involving pubs and working class life.

The site presented a challenging diversion from my usual clean style.  I wanted the rugged themes of Scott’s music to be reflected in the design of his new website, so I used a dark wooden fence texture for the background and a subtle image of a wheat field bordering the content.  In the masthead, smoke-like wisps surround Scott as he performs on stage.  I also created a prominent music player button that launches in a separate window so visitors could continue to browse the site while sampling Scott’s music.

Like my other websites, ScottMacLeod.ca is designed using the 960 Grid System.  Each element in the design conforms to a 12-column grid, making it more visually appealing.
