Get Serious

GetSerious.ca was a microsite that I designed for the Canadian Diabetes Association’s Diabetes Awareness Month campaign featuring the Association’s newly refreshed brand. The campaign slogan - 1 in 5 survives. We can all do better. - promoted both the seriousness of the disease and hope for overcoming it.
Rather than hiring models or using stock images, Get Serious focused on five actual Association volunteers who are personally affected by diabetes, and included each of their stories. I featured a graphic of them prominently in the site header, giving the image depth and allowing it to overlap the masthead to draw the eye.
In accordance with the slogan 1 in 5 survives, one person was always the focal point of the group, while the others were less prominent. I made the group image dynamic so that a different person would be randomly featured in the forefront for each page of the site.
